DICKSON WINS THE BATTLE OF ABERDEEN

Kurri’s Mandy Dickson has defeated Jodie Dunn on a countback to claim the Champion of Champions Trophy played at Abderdeen Golf Course.

With both players finishing on 82, it was Dickson who played the better back nine to wrest the trophy from the reigning champ.

In the Division Two Champion of Champions, Denman’s Ann Marie Murray was a two stroke winner over Branxton’s Katelyn Keogh, while in Division Three it was the same story, with The Vintage’s Robyn Moore claiming a two stroke victory over Scone’s Noreen Marshall.

The Champion of Champions is a play off between winners of each club’s respective Championship. Monday’s event was held in conjunction with another playoff between each club’s GolfNSW and Rosella Medals victors.

In the Rosella Medal showdown, Muswellbrook’s Deanna Hollis (nett 74) beat her clubmate Claire McKinnel by three shots but in Division Two the result was much tighter, with Denman’s Ann Marie Murray defeating Muswellbrook’s Yvonne Palmer on a countback when they both finished with a nett 73.

In Division 3, no stranger to the podium, Branxton’s Leanne Daniels was the clear victor shooting a nett 70 to defeat local Judy Miller by four.

In the third event of the day, the GolfNSW Medal playoffs, Scone’s consistent Leah Jamieson streeted the field with a nett 71 winning by six, while fellow Scone member, Cath Payne fired the best nett round of the day, a 69, to defeat Muswellbrook’s, Yvonne Palmer by four.

And Leanne Daniels finished in the winner’s circle for the second time on the day, this time claiming the Division Three GolfNSW medal with a nett 70, four shots ahead of Kurri’s Sharlene Priestley.

The GolfNSW Medal is a hotly contested title, with the winners now heading to Sydney to represent the District at the State playoffs at Stonecutter’s golf course on December 10.
