JODIE’S DUNN IT AGAIN
Singleton’s Jodie Dunn has won her second Champion of Champions title, shooting 80 in very hot conditions at Muswellbrook Golf Course.
With the thermometer hitting 32, Dunn was happy with her round until the last hole.
“I doubled the last so I was not happy with the finish, but the course was in great condition; I’ll be back up to play there some more.”
Dunn was a four shot winner over Scone’s Lyn Banks, while local Sue Wilks finished in third place, a shot back with 85.
In the Division 2 Champion of Champions, Kurri’s fast improving Kylie Short fired 90 off a 28 handicap, and was a five shot winner over Scone’s seasoned Leanda Nutt.
Renea Kerr from Dungog won the Division three shootout with 107, a victor on a countback from Aberdeen’s Karen Newton.
Despite being the runner up it wasn’t all bad news for Newton. The GolfNSW Medal playoff is held in conjunction with the Champions Day and Newton won Division 3 with a nett 70. The Division 2 winner was a newcomer to golf, Kurri’s Courtney Sayer. Despite picking up the sticks only a year ago, Sayer off a handicap of 25 shot 98, nett 73 to win by three points over club mate Tracey Toner and Branxton’s Neridah Busch.
The third event also played on one of the Hunter District’s busiest competition days was the Rosella Medal.
Rosella Medal entrants qualify after winning a Rosella Medal at their club during either a midweek or weekend stroke round.
And one of the days’ biggest Medal winners was the tiny but mighty club of Denman. Di Thorley, playing off 20 shot 89 for a nett 69 _ good enough to win both the Rosella Medal and GolfNSW Medal in Division 1. She was joined on the winners podium by fellow Denman member Ann Maree Murray who won a hotly contested Division 2 Rosella Medal competition. Murray took the chocolates in a three way countback from the Vintage’s Toy Martin and Leanda Nutt from Scone with a nett 71.
The winners of the GolfNSW Medal now get the chance to win statewide glory at the Medal finals playoff in December at Stonecutter’s Ridge.
Best of luck to our HRDGA women.
